Gunmen opened fire at a crowded concert hall on the outskirts of Moscow on the evening of March 22, killing at least 133 people and wounding many more. The Islamic State militant group claimed responsibility. It was the deadliest terrorist attack in Russia since the 2004 Beslan school hostage crisis, in which more than 330 people were killed.
